The Fourth of July is an amazing holiday. With the BBQs, picnics, family time, rodeos, and fireworks it is one of my favorites. This year I wanted to create some Fourth of July art to represent my pride in being an American. Despite the contention in this country, I choose to believe in the best of her citizens.

7 Exciting 4th of July Painting
Supplies needed: iPad and Procreate app.
American Flag
The American flag will be painted in Procreate so you can use the layer options to create as many patriotic paintings as you want.
In a fresh layer apply blue paint (#0710b2) in the upper left corner using the Oil Pastel brush in Sketching. Using the same brush with the smudge tool blend the blue so it smears off the blue corner into where the stripes would go.
Create a new layer and add red (#d34e47) stripes. Try to get the spacing as equal as possible. Then blend them with the same smudge brush.
Do the same thing for the white (#ffffff) stripes as you did the red stripes.
Go back and forth between the layers to blend the colors until you like it.
In a new layer add the stars onto the blue section using the oil pastel brush.
By the end, you will have four layers to create the American flag.
USA Flag Art
The Empire State Building is the inspiration behind this USA flag art.
In a new layer create a cityscape with the Empire State Building on the right side.
If you like the pencil look of this painting you can use the Procreate Pencil in Sketching. This pencil isn’t a good one to do the color drop with because it doesn’t create a crisp edge. If you want to use the color drop feature to save time coloring in the sketch I’d suggest the Gel Pen, Technical Pen, or Studio Pen in Inking.

Fourth of July Art
One of my favorite things to do on the 4th of July is to go on a hike and watch fireworks from the top of a mountain. Thus this next digital art piece is mountains with the American flag.
Using the Procreate pencil outline a mountain landscape. You can make them completely black or let the flag show through by shadowing parts of the peaks.
4th of July Painting
The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic American image. It is also very fun to draw.
Statue of Liberty Art
Of course we had to include the Statue of Liberty in our patriotic artwork.
If you don’t want to freehand her download a picture and upload it to Procreate. In a new layer trace the outline of the Statue of Liberty. Then deselect the layer of the picture and you will have yourself Statue of Liberty art.

Patriotic Paintings
End your creation with a majestical bald eagle soaring over the American flag—a true symbol of freedom.
You can use the same trick for the eagle that you used with the Statue of Liberty outline. Although it’s good to practice your drawing skills, I do appreciate how easy and convenient it is to trace with Procreate.
I hope you have a great time creating your 4th of July paintings and an even better holiday!
